Synopsis:
Exterior at night, at the corner of 125th and Lexington Avenue in Harlem. Khalik Allah, a photographer in the tradition of Bruce Davidson, films those he meets, their spat-out or chanted stories, their invectives and gestures, and captures the bodies and faces. Most are black.[…] From one figure to the next a collective epic portrait emerges in which voices and disjointed bodies construct polyphonic spaces of shared destiny.
Synopsis:
Extérieur nuit, au coin de la 125e et Lexington Avenue, Harlem. Khalik Allah, photographe dans la lignée de Bruce Davidson, y filme ceux qu’il rencontre, leurs récits jetés, scandés, leurs invectives, les gestes, capte les corps et les visages. Noirs dans leur très grande majorité. […] D’une figure à l’autre se dessine un portrait collectif, épique, où voix et corps disjoints construisent l’espace polyphonique d’une destinée commune.
