Synopsis:

A story of birth and the complex power of women’s companionship.
In the village of Mendi, midwifery is changing. With it, the question of women’s self-determination. Between tradition and modernity, patriarchal structures, and the complex power of female companionship, the mother Hulu, as well as the midwives Endal, Weläla, and Sirkalem struggle with their relationship to themselves, to each other, and to all those who want to decide for them.

Une histoire de la naissance et du pouvoir complexe de la sororité.
Dans le village de Mendi, la profession de sage-femme évolue. Avec elle, la question de l’autodétermination des femmes. Entre tradition et modernité, structures patriarcales et camaraderie féminine, la mère Hulu, ainsi que les sages-femmes Endal, Weläla et Sirkalem se débattent dans leur rapport à elles-mêmes, aux autres et à tous ceux qui veulent décider pour elles.
